"I spend hours and hours entering information into QuickBooks. So, what's the point?", asked a fairly new client a few weeks ago.
"INFORMATION!", I replied. Information is power. How many of us finally get the transactions entered into QuickBooks, say we are finished, and close the program. Yet, we wonder what is really happening with our businesses. Or, worse yet, we make assumptions which are many times wrong. If our assumptions are wrong, how can we make even the most basic of business decisions?
One of the great features of QuickBooks is The Report Center. There are over 100 standard reports available in QuickBooks. Each one of those reports can be customized in countless ways. As transactions are entered in QuickBooks, they appear on the appropriate reports. Take a look at this brief video to see some examples of reports:
As you go through your business day, start paying attention to the questions you are asking yourself and the decisions you are making. Then check out the reports to see if they will give you the proper information.
Of course, these reports are only as accurate as the information being entered in QuickBooks. You need to make sure you are entering transactions correctly and all transactions are being mapped to the proper accounts.
